15 1/2"

Yes, I got my hair cut! I was growing it out to donate it to Locks of Love. I love my new hair-do...although all of the attention from people at church has made me feel kind of guilty. I guess I hope that good could come out of educating people about this ministry.

WHAT IS LOCKS OF LOVE?

Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. They meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses provided helps to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.

Locks of Love Mission Statement

Our mission is to return a sense of self, confidence and normalcy to children suffering from hair loss by utilizing donated ponytails to provide the highest quality hair prosthetics to financially disadvantaged children. The children receive hair prostheses free of charge or on a sliding scale, based on financial need.
This is the 4th time I've donated and it feels great to have 15 1/2 less inches hanging off my head and knowing that it will be used to brighten the spirits of a child. A big shout out goes to my bff Jenessa for being the first person to tell me about LofL and encouraging me to donate along with her back in '02!

Your hair looks great!

I've only donated once and am in the process of growing mine out again, but I don't have the nerve to cut mine that short. It looks great on you, though!!
